Attaching and sharing links to files

If your organization uses IBM® Connections, you can manage and share links to files without leaving your inbox.

Before you begin

If you are not already logged in to your Connections account, you will be prompted to do so.

Procedure

Complete these file sharing tasks by completing the steps in the table.

Task Description
Store email attachments to your file repository for easy retrieval and to reduce the size of your mail file.
  1. From your inbox, with the preview pane hidden, select one or more attachments in the open message.
  2. Click Save to My Files icon.
  3. To replace the attachments in your mail with links to the uploaded files, click Yes in the Save to My Files window.
Send links to files stored in Connections, instead of including attachments in your email.
  1. From your Mail Inbox, click New to start your message.
  2. Click the location where you want to insert the links in the message.
  3. Click the arrow next to Insert link icon and arrow and select Insert Links from Files from the list.
  4. Click the category of files from which you want to make selections.
  5. Select the check boxes for the files that you want to add links to, and click OK.
  6. Click Send.
  7. In the Share Linked Files window, you can review the message recipients with whom file sharing will be automatically attempted, and learn before you send the links if sharing involving some files or recipients is not possible.
Note: If you do not see the Share Linked Files window and want to reset it as a preference, in the iNotes banner, click the drop-down arrow next to your name and click Preferences and then click IBM Connections.
